WHAT IS HEP®?
The Henry Equestrian Plan® is a comprehensive horse insurance plan specifically designed to provide all the coverage you need in one low package premium.
HEP® covers any pleasure horse up to $150,000.00 (Cdn.) in value. For
a higher limit of insurance, please contact your HEP® Representative. This program
does not apply to horses used commercially or for racing.
FULL MORTALITY INSURANCE
Your horse, if at least 48 hours old and under 17 years of age, can be protected against death as a result of any accident, sickness or natural cause plus intentional destruction by a qualified veterinarian, for humane reasons. It does not cover malicious or willful injury, caused by the insured, his family or servants, or intentional slaughter, unless permission is given by the insurance company.
SPECIFIED PERILS INSURANCE
Your horse, of any age, is protected against death or destruction directly resulting from fire, lightning, collapse of building, theft, earthquake, flood, collision or overturning of conveying vehicle, loading and unloading and accident to air craft. Note: the above descriptions of coverages are brief summaries only. Please see the wordings booklet for a complete outline of coverages and conditions.
AUTOMATIC RENEWAL
A signed veterinarian certificate is not required on renewal (except for disability coverage). You will receive only a billing, plain and simple.

WHAT WILL IT COST?
A special discounted rate is offered to Online Foal Auction Buyers from Canada; special rates will be quoted upon request for American buyers.
The "full mortality" rate is 2.2% of the insured value.
The minimum annual full mortality premium is $100.00 per horse.
The "specified perils" rate is 0.8% of the insured value.
The minimum annual specified perils premium is $60.00 per horse.
COVERAGES INCLUDED AT NO EXTRA COST
DEATH CLAIM VETERINARIAN REIMBURSEMENT
This extension helps to pay for incurred expenses related to the death of the insured horse. Up to
$1,000.00 is available for euthanization, post-mortem and related expenses. There is no deductible for this coverage.
WAIVER OF DEPRECIATION
Included at NO ADDITIONAL COST on all new business. If the market value of your horse should depreciate during the policy period due to sickness or injury, in the event you have a claim under the Full mortality or Specified perils coverage, we will pay at least the limit of insurance in force at the effective date of coverage should an insured mortality loss occur. Time Limitation: 24 months from the date you first insured your horse. Once the time limit has expired the loss will be settled on the basis of current Fair Market Value.
OPTIONAL EXTENSION OF COVERAGE
- FULL MEDICAL PLUS SURGICAL
This coverage can be added to your Full Mortality policy for horses over 6 months and under 17 years of age. It pays up to $2,500, $5,000. or $10,000. per incident for reasonable, necessary and customary fees for surgery or medical expenses incurred due to injury, illness or disease. This coverage does not include cosmetic surgery or surgery to treat a pre-existing condition. This coverage is available for an additional $125 for $2,500. coverage, $200 for $5,000. coverage or $350 for $10,000. coverage. A $300. deductible clause applies.
